Walk-in coolers in New York City
A warm walk-in is a food-safety clock. Log the box temperature, check the door gasket and the evaporator ice, and say whether product is still in the safe range.

Typical issues
- A box that is a few degrees warm with a dirty condenser often needs a coil cleaning before a compressor quote.
- Ice on the evaporator usually means a defrost failure, a drain pan, or a door left ajar, not an instant compressor replacement.
- A torn door gasket or a sagging door lets the box run all night. That is a gasket and hinge job.
- Water on the floor of the box is often the evaporator drain, not a refrigerant leak.
- If the box is above a safe holding temperature, say so in the job. Move product if you have another cooler.

- Do you quote the compressor only after gauges, or as a guess?
- Who approves a part over your limit before you install it?
